Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) Talent Pathway Program overview

The South East Sports Academy (SESA) supports athletes in partnership with Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG).

The objectives of JNJG are to establish and service a variety of golf programs for boys and girls that create pathways through the sport and cater for the beginner through to the elite.

The JNJG Talent pathway is aligned with Golf NSW High Performance, the Golf Australia High Performance Pathway and the NSW Office of Sport FTEM Framework. The pathway provides a staged progression from Talent Identification, through Talent Verification, to Holistic Player Development and Education and Transitional High Performance preparation

The New JNJG Talent Pathway

Level 1 – Talent Identification (OoS T1 and GA “Participation Programs”)

Level 1 focuses on identifying regional potential and providing early profiling opportunities through:

• Tournament participation and performance monitoring

• JNJG Regional Talent Assessment Days, conducted in the Golf NSW regions of North Coast, Northern Inland, Hunter/Central Coast, Central West, Far West, Illawarra/South Coast, Riverina/Murray and the ACT. In addition, South-West Sydney, Western Sydney, Sydney South and Sydney North.

• JNJG Regional Talent Camps, conducted in 6 Regional Hubs of Northern NSW, Hunter/Central Coast, Western NSW, Illawarra/South Coast, ACT and Southern NSW In addition to Greater Western Sydney and Sydney East.

These programs provide opportunities for athletes to be identified, educated and exposed to Talent Pathway staff within their local regions. Regional Talent Camps will be delivered across the state and serve as an important entry point into the pathway.

Level 2 – JNJG Development Squad (OoS T2 and GA “State Junior ID)

Level 2 brings together athletes identified through Level 1 into a more structured development environment. This phase focuses on:

• Performance progression

• Trainability and responsiveness to coaching

• Development behaviours and commitment

• Preparation for higher-level competition and performance environments

The goal of Level 2 is to further investigate talent potential through a structured program that aims to identify readiness for higher level junior level development and competition opportunities

Level 3 – Elite Talent and Talent Transition (OoS T3 and GA “Developing Junior”)

Level 3 supports advanced and elite junior athletes who have demonstrated success at state and national level. The program focuses on:

• Individualised development planning

• High-performance training and support

• National pathway alignment

• Transition into Golf NSW High Performance programs, US College Golf or the PGA Membership Pathway Program

This level introduces nationally competitive juniors to High Performance training and development environments. At this level individualised holistic preparation has commenced to prepare them for transition to post high school ‘open’ level competition (18 years and over) and elite amateur development programs.
